Is Your Immune System Working To The Level You Want?
By now, you may have changed your diet and most of the food choices you make. You may also have changed or adjusted your exercise routine, and even added journaling or meditation to help your immune system. But you still notice your immune system isn’t working to the level you want. Did you know you can use essential oils for immunity?
Here are a few of my favorite essential oils and how you can use them. One is a blend oil which means a few oils have been combined resulting entirely in a new molecular composition, where the sum is greater than the parts. This is known as a synergy between oils.

Lemon
Focus – Mood Elevator – Detoxifier – Cleaner
Lemon essential oil is one of the go-to essential oil options that many people use to boost immunity. Inhalation of lemon essential oil, as the preferred method of usage, helps reduce anxiety and boost levels of serotonin and dopamine.
Use caution when using lemon essential oil internally, as it is highly potent and concentrated.
It is used in detoxifying the body as well as easily can be added to foods, juices, and smoothies. When it helps the body remove toxins from the system it also works at killing bacteria that could cause issues with your immune system.
It helps stimulate lymph movement and clear toxins, infections and waste from every cell in your body.
Peppermint
Energy – Tension – Digestive Support
Peppermint oil is an essential oil that many people keep on hand over many other oils. This is due to the multiple ways that peppermint can assist your immune system in combating issues in the body.
It assists the body with sinus pressure and pain relief, opening up nasal passages, congestion, cold and flu symptoms, and easing an upset stomach. Keep in mind that this is also a concentrated oil and should be used a drop at a time to receive the desired benefit. Less is more.
When using peppermint essential oil, avoid ears, and eye contact. Inhaling as well as topical use are the best options. You can just open the bottle, hold it a few inches below your nose, and inhale deeply.
You can also apply it topically to the bottoms of your feet or stomach area in circular motions with a gentle massage clockwise. Use a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil on sensitive skin and to help the peppermint oil travel and get absorbed by the skin easier.
Melaleuca (Tea Tree)
Immune Support – Cleansing – After Shave
Also known as Tea Tree essential oil, Melaleuca is one of my favorite oils because of the results I have experienced with it. It can be used to support a variety of skin conditions, including acne, dryness, infections, etc. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiseptic properties that makes it ideal for immune system support.
Many studies have shown Tea Tree to be a powerful tool for supporting fungal skin infections.
Oregano
Digestion – Immune Support – Antioxidant
Cells can’t repair themselves without proper exchange of nutrients. The ability of essential oils to increase permeability of cell membranes is a key reason they work to eliminate the bad bugs, like viruses and bacteria.
>Certain essential oils like Thyme and Oregano increase permeability of the cell, allowing more nutrients in and more waste to be moved out, accelerating the body’s ability to heal.
Use oregano essential oil with caution. Try topically, diluted with fractionated coconut oil at the bottom of your feet for extra immune support.
On Guard
Antioxidant – Immune Booster – Cleaner
You may have heard of On Guard essential oil if you have been looking for essential oils. This oil is a blended oil that contains Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Leaf, and Rosemary Leaf.
This is the go-to oil if you are looking for a superfood style blend that does it all.
You can use it in diffusers, and you can use it directly by applying it diluted with fractionated coconut oil to the body as well if you have sensitive skin.
One of the leading ways to use it, however, is for house cleaning. It helps to kill germs and bacteria and keep them at bay to help reduce illness and your immune system to work properly.
This blend is strategically combined with single oils targeted for assisting your immune system to function properly.
When you buy essential oils for immunity and many other uses, make sure you are getting pure true oils, not diluted, not altered, not mixed with toxins.
The best way to find quality oils is to look for a few signs. Make sure the bottles are smaller and dark-colored glass. Also, avoid words like perfume or fragrance as part of the label. You can also look for the Latin name of the oil on the bottle. The latin name will clue you in that the oil is likely a pure oil and good for use as something other than scent.
My personal preference is dōTERRA Essential Oils, but there are great oils in the market as well such as Blue Vibrant Essential Oils. Do your homework and go with the best that fits your needs.
